PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the acoustic ray must today be adjusted to the center of a blood vessel (e.g., the cervical blood vessel) for measuring its tissue characterization, but this adjustment requires large-scale preparations and high costs, because of the need to observe a mode-B cervical blood vessel image during the adjustment. SOLUTION: A Doppler blood flow meter comprising a probe composed of a plurality of transducers for transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves to/from a subject body instead of the mode-B image, a transmitter/receiver to transmit and receive ultrasonic waves using the plurality of these transducers, an ultrasonic wave detector to detect the received wave signals, a tissue operation system to extract its properties from the detected wave signal, a display to display the result of operation by the tissue operation system, and a blood flow detector to detect blood flow from the detected wave signal from the blood flow detector. Therefore, the most suitable blood vessel tissue measurement position can be clarified by the use of a Doppler signal processor 6 and a Doppler display means 7, utilizing the method of determining the probe position for tissue operation based on the detected blood flow information.
