PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate mixing of intake air and EGR gas without complicating a shape of an intake manifold 2 nor enlarging the size. SOLUTION: An air connector 7 includes a protrusion 12 deflecting main flow of intake air by separating boundary layer flow of intake air along an inner wall, and EGR piping 3 opens to promote deflection by the protrusion 12 by flow of blasted EGR gas. Consequently, the intake air flow is strongly deflected by the separated intake air boundary layer flow and flow of EGR gas and forms a swirl, so that the mixing of the intake air and EGR gas are accelerated. The protrusion 12 has a simple structure protruding into the air connector 7, thereby the shape of the intake manifold 2 is not complicated nor enlarged in size. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
