The method involves arranging a storage element (118) to deliver a pollutant decreasing medium e.g. reducing agent. A storage medium (112) is provided in form of powder and/or granulates, where the storage medium is equipped to deliver the pollutant decreasing medium. A metallic structure (114) e.g. three dimensional metallic lead structure, is inserted in a storage medium that is pushed to a cylindrical and/or hollow cylindrical storage body (110). The storage medium is provided with a storage material and a precursor substance of the pollutant decreasing medium in a stored form. The metallic structure is selected from a mesh wire such as metallic supporting structure and/or three dimensional metallic lead structure. An independent claim is also included for a storage element for delivering a contaminant decreasing medium, comprising a storage body.
