<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data compressing method by which a circuit needed for data compression is simplified without lowering its compression efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: Data is divided into a plurality of blocks, and differential data between adjacent pieces of data in the blocks is calculated based on reference data that is one piece data in one divided block. The data length of compressed data is calculated from an effective absolute value given as the absolute value of the calculated differential data. Based on the calculated data length, a plurality of compressed data are generated. One of the plurality of compressed data is generated using a block length specifying portion specifying the data length of compressed data and the upper bit part of the reference data. The rest of the generated compressed data is generated by synthesizing a code portion of differential data and optional one-bit data in the reference data and synthesizing optional one-bit data in the effective absolute value of the differential data and one-bit data in corresponding position of the reference data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
