<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide that transforms the cross-sectional shape of a beam of laser light output from a laser light source and outputs a laser light having high uniformity of intensity distribution in the cross-section of the beam. <P>SOLUTION: In an light-irradiation apparatus 1, laser lights output from respective laser light source 10<SB>n</SB>are input to incident ends 30a of corresponding optical fibers 30<SB>n</SB>through corresponding lenses 20<SB>n</SB>, are guided from the incident ends 30a to corresponding outgoing ends 30b through the optical fibers 30<SB>n</SB>, are further guided from an incident end 40a of an optical waveguide 40 to an outgoing end 40b thereof and are output from the outgoing end 40b. The optical waveguide 40 includes an ununiform distribution in effective refractive index to a guided light of a slab waveguide comprising a core 41, along a predetermined straight line in a width direction (in an x direction) of the core 41. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
