PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an isolated nucleic acid encoding G-protein coupled receptors involved in sensory transduction.

SOLUTION: The problem is solved by providing receptors having amino acid sequences described herein, and nucleic acid sequences encoding these, and receptors having nucleic acid sequences described herein and amino acid sequences encoded by those. The invention also provides antibodies against such receptors, methods of detecting such nucleic acids and receptors, and methods of screening for modulators of the sensory cell specific G-protein coupled receptors.
