PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch device having a loop detection function for performing port closure to suppress a loop while enabling communication between a main network and a lower network as possible as possible by detecting generation of the loop without generating additional traffic on the main network in the lower network under the main network, and provide a network system. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a switch device having a loop detection function, in which it sets port identification with respect to a port for starting the loop detection function, and in an upper port of the switch device connected to the main network and an upper switch device based on the set port identification only a loop detection frame is received, while when the loop detection frame is received at the upper port, there is performed closure control of a lower port of a transmission origin that has transmitted the loop detection frame.
