PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an amount of power consumption accompanying a process displaying an image. SOLUTION: This imaging system includes: an imaging sensor for imaging a subject to generate an image signal; a converting part for converting the image signal outputted from the imaging sensor into image data of a plurality of bits; and a display part for displaying the image corresponding to the image data outputted from the converting part. The converting part converts the image signal into image data of a first bit number in a first mode in which the display part displays the image, and the converting part converts the image signal into image data of a second bit number smaller than the first bit number in a second mode in which the display part does not display the image.
