PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas phase fluidized bed apparatus which enables retention of fluidized bed-forming particles easy to cause segregation, particularly small mass particles and fluidized bed particles having a smaller diameter in the upper region of the gas phase fluidized bed apparatus, a gas phase fluidizing method and a process for producing a polymer which use this apparatus. SOLUTION: The gas phase fluidized bed apparatus 1 has a cylindrical member 10 which forms a flow channel having a narrow part 14, a gas dispersion plate 12 which is provided below the narrow part 14 of the flow channel and supplies a first gas into the flow channel to form a fluidized bed 13, and a gas blowing part 60 which supplies a second gas to the narrow part 14 of the flow channel without the aid of the gas dispersion plate 12.
