A plasma display device is provided to o steadily guarantee contrast and lifetime by steadily generating the address discharge by the priming discharge. The PDP comprises the back panel consisting of the backplane substrate of the glass material and the front panel of the glass material. The discharge space is formed by facing the front panel and back panel. A plurality of maintenance discharge electrode pairs is parallelly formed by separating the front substrate. The maintenance discharge electrode pair is comprised of X electrode(22) which is the first electrode and Y electrode(23) which is the second electrode. The dielectric layer is covered by the protective film of MgO. The address electrode is coated with the dielectric layer.
