<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-ballasted fluorescent lamp obtaining a silhouette which is similar to an incandescent lamp and a further reduction in size and for which productivity is improved and to provide an illuminating equipment using the same lamp. <P>SOLUTION: The compact self-ballasted fluorescent lamp includes: a fluorescent tube 10; a holder 30 supporting the fluorescent tube; a cover 50 with a notch-like perforated section 50b formed on one end section to which the holder is connected and a mouthpiece 60 on the other end; and a lighting unit 40 with a circuit substrate 41 to which a wrapping pin 40b is attached and the circuit substrate is arranged in the cover along a line going from one end section of the cover toward the other end section so that the wrapping pin faces the perforated section of the cover and composing a lighting circuit for the fluorescent tube.
