PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a risk that an inappropriate solid ink stick is loaded into a channel of solid ink stick feeding channels in a printer. SOLUTION: The transport system comprises a single insertion port 204 for receiving a solid ink stick 228, a plurality of feeding channels 208, each of which terminates into a melting device that heats solid ink sticks to a melting temperature, a sensor 222 that generates an electrical signal for identifying the solid ink stick 228 to be received in the single insertion port 204 and an ink stick 228 transport means configured to move solid ink sticks from the single insertion port 204 to one of the feed channels 208 in the plurality of feed channels 208 to enable delivery of the identified solid ink stick 228 through the feed channel to which the identified solid ink stick was moved.
