PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication means selection support device and method for easily searching a communication means communicable between different models and communicable in environment conformed to a parter when used. SOLUTION: The communication partner is predetermined, and information on a communication means available in a user terminal used by the partner is referred to a server machine. A second communication means in an available condition when extracted and referred to in the server machine is received. A first communication means available in a user terminal used by a user is stored beforehand. A third communication means is selected from common communication means of the first and second communication means, and the third communication means is started. An available situation on the communication means in the user terminal is monitored on the user terminal side, and the server machine is notified of a change of the available situation on the communication means in the user terminal.
