PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointing device that allows input of a coordinate to a display device even at a position close to the display device and even at a position far from the display device so as to make progress of a conference smooth in a conference or the like. SOLUTION: The pointing device 100 includes a pen-point switch 106, a sensor 102, an image input part 104, a click button 108, a switch 210 to output a mode assignment signal for taking either one of a first value indicating assignment of a writing mode and a second value indicating assignment of a pointing mode, an acceleration sensor 202, a control part 206 that is connected to the pen-point switch 106, the image input part 104, the click button 108, the acceleration sensor 202, and a storage part 204 respectively so as to output a coordinate of a position of a cursor 156 displayed on a display part 154 of a display device 150 and a processing execution signal, and an output part 208 for transmitting the coordinate of the position of the cursor and the processing execution signal respectively outputted by the control part to a computer.
