PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand the range of selection of material while reducing light quantity loss in an electrooptical device. SOLUTION: The electrooptical device (1) includes a pair of substrates (10, 20) which have electrooptical substance therebetween, dust-preventing substrates (210, 220) arranged at the side not facing the electrooptical substance on at least one of the pair of substrates, and adhesives (231, 232) which adhere one of the substrates and the dust-preventing substrates with each other. One of the substrates and at least one of the dust-preventing substrates have main parts (10b, 20b, 211, 221), and middle refraction index layers (10c, 20c, 212, 222) which are formed on the side facing the adhesives in the main part and have a third refraction index between a first refraction index of the main part and a second refraction index of the adhesives.
