PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-taking device in which a user can simply learn whether a photographic subject has abruptly varied or not during a period from a state prior to shooting to a state where a still image is actually taken and to provide its program. SOLUTION: A face detection process is performed for frame images periodically shot during a period from a half-pushing operation of a shutter button (Y in S2) to a full-pressing operation of the shutter button (N in S6) to cyclically store results of the face detection in a detected result storage region (S3, S4). When the shutter button has been full-pressed (Y in S6), the face detection process is performed for a still image shot by carrying out still image shooting (S7, S8). Then, a high-priority face detected result is selected from among the face detected results stored in the detected result storage region presently stored (S9). Next, the face detected result selected and the face detected result of the still image are compared with each other to judge whether both the results coincide with each other or not (S10, 11).
