PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-image file editing method and program capable of accelerating the movement of image data to be performed after eliminating the image data in an image file in which a plurality of image data are recorded. SOLUTION: When eliminating optional sub image data in a multi-image file in which main image data, a plurality of sub image data, offset information showing a recorded position of each sub image data are recorded, the data size of a recorded area of the sub image data to be eliminated is calculated with the recorded area as a copying destination area, a file of sub image data having a data size close to the calculated data size is selected from a backward part of the file, and the selected sub image data are copied to the copying destination area. After the sub image data to be copied run out, a file size is reduced by putting close forward sub image data recorded in the backward area of the recording area of the copied sub image data.
