PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device and destination-setting method can set a destination with little time and labor, by discriminatingly displaying an area corresponding to the regional code of an input telephone number, when the position data corresponding to the input telephone number do not exist in a database, in the destination setting by input of the telephone number. SOLUTION: In destination setting by input of the telephone number, when position data corresponding to the input telephone number do not exist in the database, an external line of the area corresponding to the region code of the telephone number is generated; and an area inside the external line and an area outside the external line are displayed discriminatingly, and a spot or a facility in the area inside the external line is predetermined by a cursor and is set as the destination.
