PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of cleaning an inkjet printer head, reducing a time necessary for head cleaning and useless ink consumption, and completing head cleaning by one time manual operation. SOLUTION: A control part 30 of a printer 1 performs firstly the nozzle check process (S2) when receiving a command for executing head cleaning by manual operation, selects one of four sucking processes (S6a-S6d) different in ink sucking amounts, and performs the selected process on the basis of the result of detecting a faulty nozzle and a value of an accumulating counter ACL. The accumulating counter ACL is added (S7) with one every time when performing the ink sucking process and is reset (S10) when finishing the head cleaning. The control part 30 repeats the ink sucking process and the nozzle check process (S2), and ends cleaning if any faulty nozzle disappears by repeating within a predetermined repeating times, or performs the error process (S9) if any faulty nozzle does not disappear.
