PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a wavelength converting function having a wave form shaping effect in a simple configuration and to minimize a wavelength converting device. SOLUTION: The wavelength converting device is equipped with a first wavelength converter 40 and a second wavelength converter 60. Each of the first wavelength converter and the second wavelength converter has an optical amplifier, a dispersion flat fiber and a wavelength filter. The first wavelength converter changes the center wavelength of a first wavelength-converted light by a first wavelength shift amountΔλ1 with respect to the center wavelength of the input light. The second wavelength converter changes the center wavelength of a second wavelength-converted light by a second wavelength shift amountΔλ2 with respect to the center wavelength of the first wavelength-converted light. The first wavelength shift amountΔλ1 and the second wavelength shift amountΔλ2 are set to satisfyΔλ1×Δλ2<0 and ¾Δλ1¾<¾Δλ2¾. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
