PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer having a simple self-cleaning function in a position detecting sensor so as to prevent a sensor error from occurring because paper powder generated when a paper is cut is accumulated, even when a cutter mechanism is provided in a housing. SOLUTION: A label printer 100 performs control so as to move a pair of blade portions 11 and 12 of a cutter 10 to a home position, simultaneously with the initialization of an electronic circuit, when a power is supplied. The guillotine cutter 10 is provided with a brush-shaped cleaning brush 25 supported by an endless belt 26 so as to wipe the position detecting sensor 9 in conjunction with a pair of the blade portions 11 and 12.
