PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus for preventing a person other than a user from estimating a display image. SOLUTION: The image display apparatus includes a body 1 and eyeglasses 2. The body 1 includes an image input section 10, a time dividing section 11, a cancel image creating section 12, an image output section 13, and a synchronizing signal transmitting section 3 of a synchronous control section 14. Eyeglasses 2 have a synchronizing signal receiving section 4 of the synchronous control section 14, a polarization change section 15, and a polarizing filter 16. An opposite color image for canceling a display image of one frame is created for each frame, the display image of one frame is time-divided into display images of a plurality of subfields, the opposite color image of one frame is time-divided into opposite color images of the plurality of subfields, and the opposite color image of one subfield is arranged before and after the display time of the display image of one subfield to create a time-divided image.
