The method involves coding a block of information symbols of a double pulse position modulation alphabet into a sequence of two vectors with two components. The vectors are obtained from code matrix elements such as Ck, Ck1, Ck2 and Ck2omega, where the Ck is matrix and defined by permutation of rows and/or columns of the matrix and omega is permutation of two positions of pulse position modulation. The row of the matrix corresponds to utilization of a transmission channel and the column of the matrix corresponds to a set of radiative elements (540-1, 540-2) e.g. laser diodes. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an ultra-wideband transmission system comprising a coding unit for coding a block of two information symbols of a double pulse position modulation alphabet into a sequence of two vectors with two components (2) an ultra-wideband receiving system comprising a set of sensors for receiving an impulsive ultra-wideband signal transmitted by a transmission system. |
