<p>Active retina implant (10) comprises a number of picture elements (18). Each picture element has at least one picture cell (19) that converts incident light into electrical signals, at least one amplifier having an inlet connected to the picture cell and an outlet connected to at least one stimulation electrode (22) receiving a stimulation signal, and an energy supply (14) that generates externally coupled energy as the supply voltage (V ccl, V cc2) for the picture cells and the amplifier. The picture cell has a logarithmic characteristic curve according to which incident light of a defined intensity is converted into electrical signals of a defined amplitude. Independent claims are also included for: (1) Alternative active retina implant; and (2) Use of a picture cell for a picture element of an active retina implant.</p>
