An apparatus for estimating a channel and noise in a wireless communication system and a method thereof are provided to estimate the channel and noise power accurately by using a scrambling pattern and a pilot signal channel. A candidate channel generator(300) generates candidate channels by using signals provided from a descrambler and one or more scrambling pattern matrices provided from a scrambling pattern generator(310). By using the candidate channels generated from the candidate channel generator and the scrambling pattern generated from the scrambling pattern generator, a signal regenerator(320) regenerates a signal. A channel selector(330) calculates the Euclidean Norm of the signal which is provided from the descrambler and the signals regenerated in the signal regenerator.
