Method and device for programming and/or configuring a safety controller

The method involves selecting functional units such as sensors (20) or actuators (24) attached at a safety control (10) via a graphical user interface, and automatically assigning the inputs (18) and/or outputs (22) of connection modules (16) to the functional units to be attached via correlation functions. The functional units are marked as pre-selected by storing and/or indicating in an intermediate area i.e. window (106) for the functional units to enlarge the safety control, where the correlation functions are automatically assigned to all or multiple functional units to be pre-selected.
