The plug assembly (200) has a clamping basket (230) having radially movable clamping fingers (231) and defining an axis (A) and designed to allow insertion of a cable into housing in a direction of the axis. A rotary sleeve (220) is supported on the housing for rotation and is fixed in an axial position with respect to the housing. The rotary sleeve moves the clamping basket or a pinch ring in the axial direction when rotated to modify a radial position of the clamping fingers. The sealing basket is snugly fitted onto the housing in an assembled state of the plug assembly.
