A liquid crystal display device and head-up display are provided to radiate light sources to the field sequential drive and to prevent characteristic deterioration of color reproducibility. The liquid crystal display comprises the pixel(22), the display unit(2) and the light source(26). Each of the pixels has the liquid crystal, and the pixel electrode and common electrode. The pixel electrode and common electrode supply voltage to the liquid crystal. The display unit has pixels of the matrix shape. The pixels are driven according to the radiation of the light sources. The head-up display comprises the display unit, the light sources, and the pixel for preventing characteristic deterioration of color reproducibility or burn-in of the liquid crystal.
