The vacuum cleaner has a blower arranged in housings, a rotary potentiometer (44) arranged within the housings for adjusting load of the vacuum cleaner blower, and rotary knobs (43,46) assigned to the rotary potentiometer. The rotary potentiometer is arranged outside the housings. The rotary axes (45) of the rotary knob and the rotary potentiometer are arranged offset to each other and connected by a shaft (47), which is formed in a flexible and torsionally rigid manner.
