A method for manufacturing an electro luminescent device and a method for manufacturing a display substrate are provided to minimize the damage to a first thin film by forming a non-polar solvent layer on the first thin film. An anode(AE) is formed on a substrate. A first transmission layer(30) is formed on the anode. The first transmission layer includes a first polar compound. The first non-polar solvent layer is formed on the substrate with the first transmission layer. The first non-polar solvent layer includes at least one compound selected from the group of benzene, ether, chloroform, pentane, and hexane. A first polar solvent layer is formed on the first non-polar solvent layer. The first polar solvent layer includes a light emitting compound. The polar solvent of the first polar solvent layer and the first non-polar solvent layer are dried to form a light emitting layer on the first transmission layer. A cathode is formed on the substrate with the light emitting layer.
