DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDER WITH NONVOLATILE MEMORY

A DVR(Digital Video Recorder) having a non-volatile memory is provided to reduce the number of times of accessing an HDD to store image information remarkably. A CPU controls the recording and reproducing operation of a DVR system. A controller(60) transmits an image signal and a control signal for decoding the image signal to a decoding unit(30). A video CODEC(Coder Decoder) unit(40) compresses the decoded image signal. The compressed image signal is transferred to a hard disk drive. An encoding unit(50) releases the compressed state of the delivered digital image signal. An SRAM(Static Random Access Memory)(70) firstly stores index information of the image signal before it is delivered to the hard disk drive.
