The system has an auxiliary jet engine (5) maintained in an axial direction with respect to a fuselage (2). An exterior air inlet device has lateral air inlets (51a, 51b) provided on each side of the fuselage along the displacement direction of an aircraft in flight, where the inlets are in front of the jet engine. A closing unit is equipped with each inlet, and has a closed position and an opening position. Streamlined channels are associated to the air inlets, respectively, where the channels are joined in front of the jet engine to form a common channel.
