A burner for producing porous glass perform is provided to obtain uniform linear velocity distribution at each gas injection port, to ensure uniform reaction, and to obtain stable flame. A burner for producing porous glass perform comprises small-diameter gas injection ports which are arranged in one or more rows of concentric circle at the same focal distance from a material injection port. The small-diameter gas injection ports are branched from a single main tube at the length of L from the leading end of the port. The area of the gas flow path of other gas injection ports except for the small-diameter gas injection ports are contracted in the middle.
