An apparatus for verifying a neighbor list and a method thereof are provided to remove the call drop caused by the omission in the neighbor list by automatically the neighbor list. A scan section for the full search is allocated to a search unit. The search unit performs the full search in the allocated scan section. A controller(602) compares the search result received from the search unit with the currently held neighbor list. If an omitted neighboring base station exists in the neighbor list, the controller generates a report message including a list of omitted base stations. A transmitter(610) transmits the report message processed in a physical layer to a serving base station.
