<p>THIS INVENTION RELATES TO MESOPOROUS MOLECULAR SIEVE MCM-41 AND TO A METHOD FOR THEIR PREPARATION FROM RICE HUSK. RICE HUSK IS A PLENTIFUL WASTE MATERIAL IN ALL RICE GROWING AREAS AND IS USUALLY DISPOSED BY OPEN BURNING. THE RICE HUSK ASH FORMED AFTER THE COMBUSTION CONTAINS ABOUT 95 TO 99% OF AMORPHOUS SILICA. DUE TO THE HIGH AMOUNT OF SILICA, RICE HUSK IS AN ABUNDANT AND CHEAP ALTERNATIVE SUBSTITUTE FOR THE SILICA SOURCE IN PREPARING MCM-41, WHICH INDEED CAN MINIMIZE THE COST AND SUBSEQUENTLY LEAD TO A NEW AREA OF RESEARCH FOR MCM-41.</p> |
