Disclosed is an antibody or fragment thereof, which specifically binds to either human FcgammaRllb or FcgammaRlla in the natural environment of the Fc receptor and which is capable of binding to a conformationally discriminating epitope (CDE) of human FcyRllb or FcyRlla, wherein the CDE comprises at least one of amino acids 12, 27, 29, 30, 104, 127, 132, 135, 160 and 171 of the amino acid sequence of FcgammaRIlb or FcgammaRIla according to SEQ ID NO: 1 or SEQ ID NO: 2.
