A method for the preparation of 1,2,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl difluoromethyl ether (CFCHFOCHF, Deflurane) is provided, which comprises reacting CFCHCIOCHF(isoflurane) and hydrogen fluoride in the presence of antimony pentafluoride such that deflurane is formed.
