A smoking article (10) comprises a rod (12) of smoking material and a filter (14) attached to the cylinder of smoking material. The filter includes a first, upstream, plug (18) of filtering material, a downstream plug (22) of filtering material, and a cavity (46) between the upstream plug of filtering material and the downstream plug of filtering material.
