PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a commercially suitable method for efficiently producing a fluoro compound having various molecular structures and containing a carbon atom having two fluorine atoms bonded thereto, by a single-stage reaction. SOLUTION: The method for producing a fluoro compound expressed by formula (B) includes the reaction of a compound expressed by formula (A) with IF5. In the formula, X is an aryl group, a heterocyclic group or an alkyl group; Y is an aryl group, an alkyl group, an acyl group, a cyano group or an alkoxycarbonyl group; and R is an aryl group or an alkyl group.
