<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor which can prevent an accident by limiting a function of charging or the like even if a secondary battery pack other than a regular battery pack is mounted to the information processor of a personal computer or the like, the secondary battery pack, and a method for authenticating the secondary battery pack of the information processor. <P>SOLUTION: An IC chip 72 authenticates a chip ID accommodated in an IC chip 23 of the battery pack (first authentication). The microcomputer 71 acquires a maker ID accommodated in the IC chip 23 via the IC chip 72, acquires a maker ID accommodated in an EEPROM 24, and authenticates a maker ID by comparing these two maker IDs (second authentication). When at least either of the first and second authentication is failed, it is determined that the battery pack is an irregular one, and charging to the battery pack from an external power supply is prohibited. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
