PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver having improved receiving quality. SOLUTION: The receiver 5 is provided with a first detecting part 21 which is connected to an output side of a filter 16 and detects the intensity of a desired signal in a received signal, and a control part 23 which is connected to an output side of the first detecting part 21 and controls the pass band of the filter 16. The control part 23 controls so as to set the pass band of the filter 16 to be a first band when the intensity of the desired signal is smaller than a first level as a result of detection of the first detecting part 21 and set the pass band of the filter 16 to be a second band wider than the first band when the intensity of the desired signal is larger than the first level. Namely, when the intensity of the desired signal is large, distortion of the filter 16 can be suppressed by removing cut-off frequency neighborhood showing a characteristic to be amplified in a prescribed low-pass filter constituting the filter 16 from an intermediate frequency band of the desired signal.
