PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify user decision whether cable connections are made to correct external terminals and user decision whether disconnected cables are correct when the user carries out work to connect cables to external terminals or to change cable connections; and shorten time required for connection work or connection change work including such user decision on television apparatus. SOLUTION: The television apparatus 1 includes: a connection state detection means which detects change in cable connection/disconnection state for each of a plurality of wired external terminals 15a, 15b, etc.; and a reporting means (instantiated by a voice selection unit 13, a voice control unit 12, and a speaker unit 11) which reports sound or voice information regarding to external terminals subjected to state change detection by the connection state detection means.
