PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the light transmittance of a liquid crystal device without increasing contact resistance between, for example, a pixel electrode and a contact hole. SOLUTION: A second pixel electrode portion 39a2 is an electrode portion which is formed in a non-aperture region 72b of a pixel 72g outside an aperture region 72 and larger in film thickness than a first pixel electrode portion 39a1. The non-aperture region 72b is a region occupying the part of the pixel 72g excluding the aperture portion 72a. A pixel electrode 9a constituted including the first pixel electrode portion 39a and second pixel portion 39a2 can be enhanced in transmittance to light passing through the pixel electrode 9a as compared with a case wherein the film thickness of the whole pixel electrode 9a is equal to the film thickness of the second pixel electrode portion 39a2. Therefore, the liquid crystal device 1 can reduce the rate of light absorbed by the first pixel electrode portion 39a1 to light emitted from a light source and increase the luminance of an image even when the same light source is used.
