PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an NMR probe for increasing the static magnetic field uniformity of a sample space, while enhancing the containment of electromagnetic waves to an antenna coil, and desirably, further suppressing the eddy currents, and an NMR apparatus equipped therewith. SOLUTION: This NMR probe is equipped with a solenoid coil and a cylindrical probe enclosure, having a hole for sample insertion, with the axis of the solenoid coil being orthogonal to the axis of the probe enclosure. In this NMR probe, rectangular metallic foil is disposed, at a part of an inner face of the probe enclosure, where at least the hole for sample insertion is present so that the long side of the rectangle is parallel to or is substantially parallel to the axis of the probe enclosure, with the metallic foil formed out of a material having magnetic susceptibility of a polarity being reverse to that of the probe enclosure and conductivity. Furthermore, when the probe is disposed in combination with a superconducting magnet in a static magnetic field, the product of the absolute value of volume susceptibility and the cross section orthogonal to the magnetic field of the probe enclosure is made to equal, or is substantially equal to that of the metallic foil.
