PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheetlike member thickness detection device detecting thickness of a sheetlike member with high accuracy while reducing cost, and an image forming device provided with the sheetlike member thickness detection device. SOLUTION: A recording paper thickness detection device 120 includes: a pair of rollers configured such that it is composed of a rigid roller 124 as a first roller member, and an elastic roller 123 formed of an elastic body, as a second roller member, which sandwich and convey a recording paper 118 as the sheetlike member at a constant conveying speed, and at least the elastic roller 123 is rotated according to movement of the recording paper 118; a rotation detection sensor 125 as a rotation detection means detecting an angular speed as the rotation of the elastic roller 123; a storage section 139 as a storage means with information on a correlation between the angular speed of the elastic roller 123 and the thickness of the recording paper 118 previously stored; and an arithmetic device 129 as a calculation means calculating the thickness of the recording paper 118 from a result detected by the rotation detection sensor 125 and the information on the correlation.
