<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit capable of keeping high reliability even used in a severe environment. <P>SOLUTION: This backlight unit is provided with: a backlight; a resin frame having a recessed part for containing the backlight therein; and a metal frame having a window part covering the recessed part, and capable of extracting light from the backlight. The backlight unit is characterized in that the resin frame has a projecting part on a flat surface in a periphery of the recessed part; the metal frame has cutout parts allowing penetration of projecting parts on the flat surface in the periphery of the window part. When the flat surface shape of the window part is nearly rectangular, the cutout parts are preferably arranged in outer sides relative to extension lines of short sides constituting the window part on the flat surface in the window part periphery. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
