PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify the kinds of recording cells in real time when a nerve activity is recorded from a living brain.
SOLUTION: The nerve cells to be inspected are previously stained with a fluorescent substance. A fine probe is prepared, including a light transmission body for transmitting an optical image from one end to the other end; a plurality of electrically conductive point-like end parts arranged on a surface at one end of the optical transmission body; and a plurality of conductive wires arranged in a form not to disturb light transmission from the plurality of point-like end parts on the surface of one end in the light transmission body. When the fine probe is inserted to a living body in measurement, the distal ends of metallic conductive wires of the probe act as electrodes. When the cells close to the fine probe act, the electric activity of the cells to be inspected is measured by using the plurality of electrodes. The electric recording of the plurality of electrodes is analyzed based on the known positions of the electrodes, so as to estimate the positions of the cells. In the meantime, the fluorescent image of the cells to be inspected is acquired through the light transmission body. The position information of the nerve cells is collated with the fluorescent image, thereby separating and extracting the electric activity from the nerve cells to be inspected.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
