PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer graphite film having high heat diffusion performance or heat radiation performance and a method of forming the same. SOLUTION: The multilayer graphite film includes a first graphite layer 11 and a second graphite layer 12 each having different thermal conductivity in plane direction. The method of forming the multilayer graphite film is provided with a step of: preparing a high molecular graphite film obtained by heat-treating a polymer film and having specific gravity of ≥0.2 and ≤2.0 as the first graphite layer 11; a step of: preparing an expansive graphite film obtained by acid-treating, heat-treating and roll-treating graphite powder as the second graphite layer 12 having thermal conductivity different from that of the first graphite layer 11 in the plane direction; and a step of: pressing and joining the first graphite layer 11 and the second graphite layer 12.
