PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent-operability switch device used for equipment having an inexpensive fingerprint recognition function. SOLUTION: This switch device has: a switch button provided in a casing 1; a fingerprint sensor 5 for reading fingerprint information from the switch button; a fingerprint recognition part 7 for recognizing the fingerprint information 6 of the fingerprint sensor 5; and a fingerprint collation part 7a for collating the fingerprint information recognized by the fingerprint recognition part 7 and previously registered fingerprint information. The switch button is a slide member 3 having a movable contact piece, slid by operation of a finger. The casing 1 includes a fixed terminal 4 opening/closing a circuit by contact of the movable contact piece 3a of the slide member. The fingerprint sensor 5 is a line sensor provided perpendicularly to a slide direction of the slide member 3, and reads the fingerprint information when sliding the slide member by a prescribed distance.
