PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raindrop detector for certainly detecting dripping water. SOLUTION: When the continuously lasting time of a state that a raindrop amount gradient R is more than a raindrop amount gradient threshold value Rs reaches a threshold time Ts, the occurrence of dripping water is determined. Then, a drive signal is output to a wiper motor in order to perform wiping-off operation due to a wiper blade simultaneously with determining the occurrence of dripping water. By this method, the occurrence of dripping water is discriminated from a rainfall to be detected accurately. Then, since the wiping-off operation of the wiper blade is performed simultaneously with the detection, a front window shield is wiped away from above even if the dripping water occurs to well keep the front visual field of a driver.
